WHAT?
KLINGON CLASSES FOR BOTH NOVICE AND EXPERT
Each summer, the Klingon Language Institute (KLI) organizes the qep'a', a five day long meeting where klingon-speakers from around the world gather to speak about and in Klingon. Unfortunately, only a small amount of members have the possibility to attend the qep'a' every year, so the solution was to get the meeting to the members.
A qepHom (literally: minor meeting) is an informal gathering which enables klingon speakers to gather in their area, to share their interest in the language of the warrior. This qepHom is hosted by a past Beginners' Grammarian of the KLI. It is open to everyone who likes to learn klingon, membership in the KLI is not mandatory to participate, and there is no registration fee. Knowledge in Klingon is not necessary. This is the best occasion to learn and practice Klingon, and to meet other "Klingonists"! Here you will hear and see why Klingon is called the "fastest growing language in the galaxy"!
We will discuss about the language, learn where it came from and where it's going to. You'll have the chance to see a collection of books, we'll listen to some sections from Conversational Klingon and Power Klingon. We'll practice the pronunciation of some important proverbs, like nuqDaq yuch Dapol and 'IwlIj jachjaj...
And of course you can ask any questions concerning Klingon culture, language, grammar, or vocabulary.
Isn't Klingon as hard as hell?
"Au contraire, mon capitain" - Klingon is easy! There are no inclinations, no cases, no inversions, no articles, no past tense, no tenses at all, no gender, no word for violet, no word for to be, no exceptions... err, okay, there are some ;-)
But: It's not a trick, it's a language.
You can see that when you read this page in Klingon!)
